Comment: Thank you for this site. It is very necessary that the memory of those who served at Hainault Farm is preserved for all to read about. I apologise for not having commented earlier. I am the Secretary of the Fairlop Heritage Group. We are grateful for your having set up this website. We are concerned with all aspects of the history of Fairlop Plain but first and foremost the three military airbases during the two World Wars. There is still not enough that is known about these and this is despite 39 Squadron having included Keith Park and 44 Squadron having been commanded at one time by Sir Arthur Harris. In both cases their distinguished records might have been most attained by service in the Second World War but as they served at Hainault Farm this base should be given due recognition. To recognise the service of all who served at these bases we, as of last year, began having a Remembrance Day Service at Fairlop Waters on 11th November. The site is close to the southern edge o

Comment: I have run my business from the two repair hangers for the last 2 years. As mentioned on previous pages on this site the original wooden beamed construction of the hangers remains unchanged. Anyone who wishes to visit and see inside the units are more than welcome. As mentioned in your website, sadly the Officers mess has now been demolished. Comment: GReat website and research on one of the brave pilots of the war. I am also researching a pilot who was around the training bases at about the same time as your uncle. He was an Australian pilot called Captain Henry (harry) John Butler. I would love to be able to contact you to get some pointers on where and how to find out information.
